The Mimaki CJV200 eco-solvent printer stands out for its superior print quality and intuitive operation, making it suitable even for users with limited experience. Equipped with advanced technology and dedicated software, it delivers excellent color reproduction, reduced odor, and high productivity. Users appreciate its versatility in producing stickers, signage, and promotional materials, as well as its ink-saving functions. The CJV200 thus becomes an efficient and cost-effective solution for modern print production.

Mimaki Engineering has launched the CJV200 series (hereinafter referred to as CJV200), an eco-solvent inkjet printer that combines high print quality with ease of use. Yu Okada of SAN GRAPHICA Inc., who actually introduced this machine, reports that he experienced various advantages. Through user feedback, we explore the appeal of the CJV200.

The New Model Delivers High Image Quality with a Simple Design

Mimaki Engineering (hereinafter referred to as Mimaki) has been providing high-quality eco-solvent industrial inkjet printers for over 20 years. However, from the perspective of operators new to the printing industry or owners inheriting a business, conventional printers were difficult for beginners in terms of operation, data creation, and maintenance, which caused hesitation in adopting industrial printers.

In this context, the company launched the roll-to-roll print-and-cut system “CJV200”, equipped with eco-solvent ink. Designed to be easy to operate, check, and maintain even for operators with limited experience, this model contributes to improved productivity in the production facility through its simple operation.

In addition, it is equipped as standard with the newly developed design software “Simple Create”, which allows users to create print and cut data even without dedicated graphic software. Furthermore, this model features a single print head from Mimaki’s flagship printer, the “330 Engine.” This ensures high image quality while providing a practical printing speed of 17.0 m²/h, the highest in its entry-level class.

“We Experienced Many Advantages, Such as Excellent Color Reproduction and Reduced Odor”

SAN GRAPHICA, the company featured in this interview as a user of the “CJV200”, is a design production company based in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, primarily engaged in creating printed materials, outdoor signage, websites, and video content. In this context, they decided to replace the existing “CJV300-130” model with the “CJV200-130.”

Looking back, Okada stated:
“After hearing that printing precision had improved, our expectations increased even more.”
After testing the machine at an exhibition, he personally saw the “beauty and speed of printing using the 330 print head.” Furthermore, he explained that the decision to proceed with the installation was also based on the fact that “considering installation in a limited space, the size of the CJV200 was suitable.”

During actual use, the first impression was that print color reproduction had improved. Although the previous CJV300-130 model also produced beautiful prints, the printing performance has been further enhanced. For example, when printing labels for craft beer, it was observed that “even fine text, such as ingredient labels applied on the back of beer bottles, printed beautifully.”

Regarding repeat jobs, they noticed differences in color reproduction compared to the previous machine. However, with the help of Mimaki, they adjusted the profile settings and continued operations smoothly. Furthermore, after switching to the newly developed SS22 ink, they found that “the odor is almost nonexistent, and even when performing other tasks near the printer, it is no longer bothersome.”

On the other hand, although there were concerns about speed because the printer has only one print head, he stated:
“In practical terms, there is no significant difference. Moreover, if printing speed is too high, there is a risk of winding before the ink dries. Especially when printing long runs, winding at the correct drying point is crucial, so the current speed seems practically appropriate.”

Practical Applications and Cost Performance of the “CJV200” Model

SAN GRAPHICA used the “CJV200” to produce vehicle stickers for the rally event “GiRO di Karuizawa.” Held in May 2025, this historic rally marked its 22nd anniversary. Vehicles traveled 300 kilometers over two days and were exposed to natural conditions for extended periods, even though the route used public roads. The company used the CJV200 to print stickers with visibility and weather resistance suitable for this event.

They reflected:
“The printing speed was higher than we expected, which allowed us to deliver earlier. We used SS22 ink, and there were absolutely no issues with quality, including color reproduction. Not only did the stickers not peel off during the event, but they also peeled off easily afterward, which was very helpful.”

In addition, they handle outdoor signage, exhibition panels, and marking films. They continue to use them extensively, noting that “its ability to produce complex cuts makes it suitable for items such as company logo stickers.”

They also find the “Ink Save” function, which reduces ink consumption through a simple operation, very practical.
“It proves extremely valuable for advertising materials used at one-day events or projects with limited budgets. Even at level 5, the highest ink-saving level, color fading is not particularly noticeable. This contributes to improving cost performance.”

Furthermore, Okada mentioned that “since switching to the CJV200, I have been using the cloud-based printer status monitoring tool, PICT.” This allows him to check the printer’s operating status even when he is away from it, which is very helpful considering that he currently operates it alone.

He also mentioned that “when I delegate tasks to others in the future, the simplicity and ease of use of the printer will make training easier. The screen reminds you of the next task, preventing omissions.”

Looking ahead, Okada expressed enthusiasm, stating:
“We want to challenge ourselves with paint films that can be applied to rough surfaces,” and added, “If we can leverage the excellent color reproduction for car wrapping, that would be another challenge.”

He also mentioned that the prompt and meticulous support from Mimaki has been extremely helpful, giving them strong confidence in the brand.
“Although they have already introduced innovative ideas to the world, we hope they will continue to introduce new technologies and drive the printing industry forward.”
